C Grade Cricket Premiership

6 April 2021

Congratulations to Josh Waldhuter and the Third XI winning the Cricket premiership last weekend.

The ALSC cricket dynasty continues with the 17th Premiership won in the last 22 years since the first premiership which was achieved in the 1999/2000 season. (This includes 8 First XI Premierships, 5 Second XI and 4 Third XI)

Legendary ALSC member Marty (Bongo) Jongeneel played in his 9th Premiership (more than half of the clubs overall premierships and an equal club record with Mark Borgas).

Marty also achieved a major milestone by taking 2 wickets to reach 400 Wickets for the club, a record which is highly unlikely to be broken for a long time, unless Nitto can keep going for another 10 years!

Marty started back in 1985/86 and has played 224 games in 30 seasons. He has scored over 1600 runs and up to the end of 2019 had endured 39 ducks (also a club record). Off the field he has also just completed 12 years as Cricket President. Congratulations Marty on all your club achievements in the field of cricket, not to mention his footy achievements and that’s another story (which you can read about in the book.)
